Safe Bulkers chief executive Polys V. Hajioannou has assumed the role of president of the Cyprus Union of Shipowners (CUS).
The Cyprus Union of Shipowners (CUS) held its electoral general meeting last week in Limassol, on the sidelines of the Maritime Cyprus 2025 conference.
Shipping Deputy Minister of the Republic of Cyprus, Marina Hadjimanolis, also attended, with officials from the shipping deputy ministry, and a significant number of shipowners members of the union.
During the proceedings, which aimed to elect the new board of directors for the 2025-2028 term, Polys V. Hajioannou was elected as the Union’s new president.
Polys Hajioannou, Safe Bulkers chief executive officer, has chaired the company’s board of directors since 2008.
He was elected as a member of the board of directors of the Union of Greek Shipowners in 2006 and served on the board until February 2009. He is a member of the Lloyd’s Register Hellenic
