TTI Algeciras Submits €150M Expansion Plan

TTI Algeciras has submitted its official expansion project for Phase B of Isla Verde Exterior to the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA), outlining plans to add 160,000 square meters to its terminal footprint. The €150 million investment will increase the terminal’s capacity by up to 500,000 TEU, raising its annual handling potential to 2.1 million TEU. As part of the plan, the terminal’s concession period will also be extended until 2065.
Strategically located on the European side of the Strait of Gibraltar, the terminal is jointly owned by HMM (50% plus one share) and CMA CGM Group (50% minus one share), its main customer. It regularly handles some of the world’s largest vessels, including the HMM Algeciras and CMA CGM’s LNG-powered megaships.
“This expansion is the natural evolution of more than a decade of steady growth,” said Alonso Luque, CEO of TTI Algeciras. “It positions us to handle larger vessels and new services while maintaining our hallmark efficiency and flexibility.”
Gerardo Landaluce, Chairman of APBA, welcomed the project, noting that it supports the port’s strategic roadmap to develop sustainable and high-capacity maritime infrastructure in the Strait of Gibraltar.
