New Far East–Red Sea loop launched

Global Feeder Shipping, RCL, and TS Lines have jointly launched a Far East–Red Sea loop, offering shippers a new direct corridor linking major Chinese export hubs with key Red Sea gateways. Evergreen will take slots on the service under the OGRD brand.

The service will start as a fortnightly rotation deploying 3,000 TEU vessels, calling Shanghai, Qingdao, Guangzhou (Nansha), Shenzhen (Shekou), Jeddah, Sokhna, Aqaba, Jeddah, and returning to Shanghai.

The loop addresses rising cargo demand into the Red Sea, particularly for consumer goods, machinery, and construction materials moving into Saudi Arabia and Egypt. It also provides transshipment opportunities via Jeddah, one of the region’s fastest-growing hubs.

The launch reflects increased interest from regional carriers in expanding China–Red Sea capacity, a market where demand has outpaced existing service offerings over the past year.
