Karpowership upping Mexico’s energy ante with LNG-to-power project
Karpowership, Türkiye’s floating power solutions provider and owner and operator of powerships, is setting the stage to elevate the energy infrastructure game in Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula with a project that will include a powership and a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal vessel (LNGTS).

Karpowership has unveiled a three-year project, operating on natural gas, which is seen as the lowest-carbon hydrocarbon fuel. This will enable the firm to deploy a 250 MW powership along with an LNG terminal vessel in Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula to provide dispatchable electricity in partnership with the country’s independent systems operator, CENACE.
The project, which is anticipated to support energy security in one of the country’s fastest-growing regions, is said to mark a new milestone in the expansion of the Türkiye-based company’s presence in the Americas, positioning it as an important energy partner in the region.
