BIFA Revamps and Enhances Its Policy and Compliance Division
With David Stroud stepping down as BIFA’s policy and compliance adviser for Air, the institution is reshaping its team.
Pawel Jarza, a familiar face among BIFA members due too his role as frontier policy manager in Customs, will take over David’s responsibilities.
Jarza holds a master’s degree in International Trade Relations from Wroclaw University and boasts over two decades of experience in logistics, especially focusing on Customs compliance management.
Simultaneously occurring, Igor Popovics has been appointed as the new policy and compliance adviser for Customs. He joined BIFA last year after working at the London Chamber of Commerce as an officer handling export documents and customs declarations. His expertise extends to Rules of Origin and Carnets.
The team is also welcoming Jamie McKean into a newly elevated role as policy adviser for Sustainable Logistics. A law graduate from the University of Reading, Jamie started with BIFA in 2023 as a management trainee. He’ll collaborate closely with Mike Jones, who specializes in sustainability and environmental policies.
This year marked the launch of a dedicated policy group within BIFA aimed at pinpointing environmental issues that could affect members’ businesses now or down the line.
The promotion of Jamie underscores how crucial this Sustainable Logistics initiative is becoming for BIFA members. Many are at various points along their journey toward developing policies that tackle sustainability challenges within their supply chains—and they’re increasingly looking to BIFA for support and insights.
