Revolutionizing Air Freight: The Innovative Lödige Industries System at Queen Alia International's New AHS/Menzies Cargo Terminal
According to a recent announcement, the newly launched cargo facility at Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) is now operational. This state-of-the-art terminal, developed by Lödige Industries in collaboration with Aviation handling Service (AHS), a partner of Menzies Aviation, promises to revolutionize cargo handling in the region.
spanning an impressive 8,000 square meters, this terminal is set to boost its annual handling capacity to 60,000 tons. The grand opening was graced by his Excellency Dr. Jaafer Hassan, Prime Minister of Jordan, along with various dignitaries. This new facility is poised to enhance Jordan’s status as a pivotal logistics center within the Middle East.
“Our goal at AHS Jordan is clear: we aim to establish this cargo terminal as a premier hub for both regional and global trade,” stated Dominique Ceulemans,Managing Director at AHS Jordan. “To realize this vision, we are leveraging cutting-edge automated technologies from Lödige Industries that will streamline our operations and ensure safety while meeting our customers’ evolving needs.”
The advanced cargo terminal allows AHS/Menzies in Amman to automate their processes effectively and deliver top-notch services that support long-term growth at QAIA. Key features include an automated storage system designed for 136 Unit Load Devices (ULDs) paired with an Elevating Transfer Vehicle (ETV), which guarantees speedy and efficient storage solutions. Additionally, ergonomic workstations and optimized storage racks enhance shipping capabilities while a ULD control system ensures smooth monitoring alongside Menzies’ latest cargo Management System.
