WestJet Cargo Broadens Its Horizons with New Network Additions
According to a recent announcement from WestJet Cargo, the company is broadening its network following the successful merger with Sunwing Airlines. With 18 Boeing 737 aircraft now part of the WestJet fleet, there’s a important boost in cargo capacity and fresh freight service options to popular Caribbean locations. this expansion means that flights to Holguin (HOG), santa Clara (SNU), and Varadero (VRA) in Cuba will have an extra 2.5 tons of cargo space available per flight.
Julius Mooney, who oversees Commercial Cargo at WestJet, expressed enthusiasm about this development: “The added aircraft capacity is fantastic for enhancing belly cargo operations in Eastern Canada while also improving guest connectivity through our airline.”
This growth builds on WestJet’s existing weekly service between Toronto and Havana that kicked off earlier this year. Now, travelers can enjoy daily flights from toronto (YYZ) to Varadero, four times a week to Santa Clara, and three times weekly to Holguin.
Moreover, Montreal (YUL) will see daily freight services introduced to varadero along with four weekly flights added between montreal and Holguin.
The increase in capacity aligns with enhanced daily services connecting Toronto with Cancun (CUN), Montego Bay (MBJ), and Punta Cana (PUJ).Additionally, there are more frequent flights now operating between Toronto and Puerto Plata (POP) three times a week as well as twice-weekly services to Liberia (LIR).
