According to a recent declaration, BIFA has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ethiopian Freight Forwarders and Shipping Agents Association (EFFSAA) to boost the efficiency and competitiveness of Ethiopia’s logistics and freight forwarding industry.

this agreement was formalized during a ceremony held at the Hilton Hotel in Addis Ababa, marking an vital step towards enhancing international collaboration in Ethiopia’s logistics landscape.

The MoU establishes a strategic alliance between BIFA and EFFSAA, focusing on several key initiatives.

These initiatives include strengthening EFFSAA’s institutional capabilities as a trade association; offering expert advice on both technical and commercial issues for public entities and private businesses; rolling out specialized training programs for EFFSAA members; as well as promoting resource sharing and knowledge exchange between both organizations.

A recent visit by senior BIFA representatives to Ethiopia involved discussions with crucial stakeholders from both public and private sectors. This visit culminated in an official signing event attended by prominent government officials, growth partners, and industry leaders who highlighted how vital this partnership is for tackling logistical challenges in Ethiopia while aligning practices with global standards.

Dawit Woubishet, president of EFFSAA, expressed: “Our goal at EFFSAA is to cultivate a logistics sector that can compete globally while supporting economic growth through enhanced workforce skills, fostering innovation, and establishing international connections.This agreement will allow us to leverage insights from an esteemed trade association that plays a pivotal role within FIATA.”

BIFA’s director general Steve Parker added:  “I’m thrilled that our expertise has been recognized through this MoU. It paves the way for collaborative efforts aimed at transforming Ethiopia’s logistics sector.”
