Fincantieri Marine Group Welcomes George Moutafis as New CEO

According to Fincantieri Marine Group (FMG), the U.S. branch of one of the globe’s leading shipbuilding entities, George A.Moutafis has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer, starting july 1, 2025.
This leadership change comes at a crucial time for the American shipbuilding sector, especially with the current administration focusing on enhancing domestic naval capabilities. Considering this shift, FMG is reaffirming its dedication to the U.S. by bringing in an experienced executive who possesses extensive knowledge in defense and naval manufacturing.
Moutafis boasts over 25 years of high-level experiance in strategic planning and programme management across both public and private sectors. His most recent position was as Chief Operating Officer at Beretta USA Corp., were he honed his skills in operational excellence.
Previously, he played significant roles within FMG that helped advance innovation and execution for U.S.Navy projects. His expertise not only covers defense but also includes a global viewpoint that aligns well with FMG’s goals amid evolving priorities within U.S. industry and government.
For more than 15 years, Fincantieri has established a strong presence in America with four shipyards employing around 3,000 individuals. The company has invested upwards of $800 million into its operations here—more than half dedicated to enhancing facilities like those at Marinette yard in Wisconsin—demonstrating their commitment to bolstering both the U.S. Navy and national industrial capacity.
