US Coast Guard to receive nearly $25 billion in new funding package

The US Coast Guard (USCG) announced on July 4 that it will receive nearly $25 billion in a new funding package from the US Government, which the service described as the largest single commitment of funding in its history. It added that the funding is intended to "strengthen every facet" of the service's operations.

According to the USCG, the funding will allow for the procurement of an estimated 17 new icebreakers of various types, 21 new cutters, over 40 helicopters, and six C-130J aircraft. The package also includes significant funds for shore infrastructure, depot-level maintenance, and long-range unmanned aircraft systems.
