The recent tax and budget legislation dubbed “One Big, Gorgeous Bill” has garnered applause from numerous stakeholders in the freight and trucking sectors.
This important bill was signed into law by president Donald Trump on July 4 during a celebratory event at the White House that coincided with Independence Day festivities. The legislation includes various tax incentives aimed at private sector leaders and investors alike. It stands as one of trump’s key legislative accomplishments during his second term.
the ATA is optimistic about how this new law could invigorate an already eager freight industry looking for economic growth this year.
“We appreciate Congress’s Republicans and President Trump for pushing this complete tax reform thru,” stated ATA President Chris Spear shortly after Congress approved it. “This vote brings essential stability to our trucking industry—the backbone of our economy—allowing it to expand.”

“By passing this bill, Congress has prevented what could have been the largest tax hike in U.S. history. Our economy and supply chain would not have endured such a setback,” Spear emphasized. “This money belongs to us—not the government—and truckers are best equipped to reinvest it for prosperity.”
“Most motor carriers are small businesses operating ten trucks or fewer; they can now plan ahead while continuing to provide well-paying jobs and upgrade their fleets,” he added. “We commend congressional leaders for recognizing these realities with this supportive tax relief package benefiting over 8 million Americans working in trucking.”
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce also weighed in on how this law might shape long-term economic prospects across America. CEO Suzanne P. Clark noted that “the one Big Beautiful Bill Act is a victory for economic development, workers’ welfare, and communities nationwide.” She stressed that competitive taxation policies are crucial for bolstering wages and overall growth.
“The Chamber has consistently advocated for a stable global tax framework,” she added.
NFR CEO Matthew Shay echoed similar sentiments regarding revitalizing American businesses through pro-growth measures embedded within the legislation: “This historic act actualizes [Trump’s] vision of advancing policies that curb government spending while benefiting hardworking families.”
This new law extends several provisions from Trump’s previous Tax Cuts and Jobs Act from 2017—like individual income rates—and opens doors to educational programs such as truck driver training schools while reversing some climate initiatives introduced under biden’s administration.
