U.S Navy’s USS Nimitz Carrier Strike Group Conducts Operations In Philippine Sea After Guam Visit

Led by the flagship USS Nimitz or CVN 68, the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group is operating in the Philippine Sea after a scheduled port visit to Guam, showing their readiness and the Navy’s commitment to a safe Indo-Pacific.

The Group is conducting day and night flight evolutions, showcasing the air wing’s capabilities to swiftly launch and recover aircraft in different conditions, supporting maritime security and ensuring that the U.S. Navy is combat-ready to project power across the region.

Rear Adm. Maximilian Clark, commander, Carrier Strike Group 11, said, “Operating forward as a strike group hones our ability to maintain persistent and capable forces at sea, always ready to provide our leaders with a broad spectrum of military capabilities to respond to any crisis or contingency.”

NIMCSG comprises the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17, and Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 9.

The strike group is in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations.
