The Indian Coast Guard intercepted a Pakistani fishing vessel with 9 crew in Indian waters, close to the International Maritime Boundary Line, per officials.
They added that the vessel will be towed to Porbandar in the state of Gujarat for inspection and interrogation of the crew.
Gujarat Defence PRO Wing Commander Abhishek Kumar Tiwari said in a post on X that in a night operation, an Indian Coast Guard ship was patrolling in the Arabian Sea when it sighted the Pakistani vessel in Indian waters on January 14, 2026.
When they tried to stop the boat, it attempted to flee to Pakistani waters, he added.
However, the Indian Coast Guard ship boarded it in Indian waters and took the 9 crew with them, along with the vessel, called Al-Madina.
He also said that the operation highlights ICG’s unwavering commitment to securing the country’s maritime borders through relentless vigilance and law enforcement across the nation’s waters.
