The Port of Los Angeles, the busiest container port in the United States, is largely unaffected by the supply chain disruptions linked to the ongoing conflict involving Iran, according to its Executive Director Gene Seroka.

While the war has disrupted shipping activity in parts of the Middle East, the port’s main transpacific trade routes continue to operate normally.

Speaking on Thursday, Seroka said the port has not seen any congestion related to the conflict on its key shipping lanes between Asia and the United States.

He added that cargo operations at the port remain steady despite growing concerns about the impact of the war on global shipping.

The conflict involving Iran has created problems for container shipping in the Middle East. Rising tensions in the region have increased shipping costs, delayed cargo movements and left some vessels and shipments stranded.
