Greece is heading into the new tourist season as a top travel destination, according to recent data from the global tourism organization TUI. The country ranks second for travel bookings in 2025, trailing only Spain, and has emerged as the fifth most popular global destination.
The country’s dynamic position as a top tourist destination for Europeans, particularly German travelers, was highlighted at the recent International Tourism Fair in Berlin (ITB Berlin 2025), which traditionally serves as a barometer for the upcoming season. This year, national bookings for the summer are up an average of 8% compared to last year, with prices for new tourism packages rising by 5%.
Among the most sought-after Greek destinations are Crete, Rhodes, Zakynthos, Corfu, and Kos, with the UK and Germany—the two major sources of Greek tourism—driving the demand.
So far, Rhodes has seen a 15% increase in online bookings, with Crete following at +10%. Corfu is also experiencing growth, with British bookings up by 2% and German bookings rising by 5%. Zakynthos has seen a remarkable 44% surge in bookings.
Meanwhile, Mykonos, one of Greece’s two premium island destinations, has maintained its bookings at last year’s levels, after several years of decline.
