Retail trade turnover in Greece saw a 2.5% increase in December
Retail trade turnover in Greece saw a 2.5% increase in December 2024, according to data released by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).
In January 2025, the General Turnover Index recorded a 2.5% increase compared to January 2024. Compared to December 2024, it recorded a significant decline of 18.4%. Similarly, the General Volume Index, which measures turnover at constant prices, increased by 1.9% year-on-year but dropped by 16.8% compared to the previous month.
ELSTAT announced the Retail Trade Turnover and Volume Indices, based on the 2021=100.0 index, with January 2025 as the reference month. The provisional data is adjusted for the number of working days in a standard-length month and provides insight into the sector’s performance.
Seasonally adjusted data indicated a more stable trend. The seasonally adjusted General Turnover Index rose by 1.2% in January 2025 compared to December 2024, while the seasonally adjusted General Volume Index showed a more modest increase of 0.6% over the same period.
