The American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) is scheduled to open a new branch in Washington, D.C., on May 22, marking a major step in strengthening U.S.-Greece economic and commercial ties.
Announced this week, the expansion reflects AmCham’s commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation and supporting Greek business outreach to the U.S. market, while also encouraging American investment in Greece. The move comes at a time when relations between the two countries are stronger than ever.
“This is the most substantial and strategic expansion of our U.S. presence to date,” said AmCham President Nikolaos Bakatselos. “It reflects our ambition to play a key role in the extroversion of the Greek economy, which is increasingly recognized as a reliable investment destination.”
The new D.C. branch will among others organize trade missions, events, and seminars, and connect U.S. and Greek companies across sectors such as defense, energy, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Journalist Katerina Sokou will serve as Executive Director of the U.S. branch. Sokou is a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Europe Center and a Research Fellow at ELIAMEP, with extensive experience reporting on U.S.-Greece affairs.
