Citing three Russian sources familiar with the Russia-Ukraine peace talks, Reuters news agency reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin has put forward a series of conditions to end the war in Ukraine, including a written pledge by the West that there will be no NATO enlargement to the east and the lifting of sanctions against Russia.

According to the same sources, further demands also include a resolution of the issue of frozen Russian assets in the West and institutional guarantees for the protection of Russian-speaking populations in Ukraine

A meeting between Presidents Putin, Trump, and Zelensky, which was proposed by the latter, will not be possible unless there are “specific agreements” between Russia and Ukraine, the Kremlin stated today.

“A meeting of this kind must be the result of concrete agreements between the two delegations,” Dmitry Peskov said during a regular press briefing attended by AFP, at the same time as the other major international news agency was publishing information from three sources in Moscow, according to which “Putin is ready to make peace, but not at any cost.”

Reuters notes that after a more than two-hour conversation with Donald Trump last week, Russia’s president stated he would work with Ukraine
