A Greek hotel was ranked among the best in the world

A Greek hotel was ranked among the best in the world during an event in London on Sunday night. The Greek entry, the Four Seasons Astir Palace in Athens, secured the 17th position on the list.

The hotel, which has been in operation for only six years, has already placed third twice in the list of the top 50 hotels worldwide. Designed by Taiwanese designer Tony Chi, the modern 413-room property surpassed last year’s winner, the Capella Bangkok.

The Rosewood Hong Kong took the top spot among global hotel chains.

In second place this year was the Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River, a 299-room hotel located in the creative heart of Thailand’s capital, followed by Capella Bangkok in third. The list is dominated largely by Asian hotels.

Notably, the Passalacqua, a boutique hotel located on Lake Como, Italy, was the only non-Asian property to make the top five. The 18th-century villa ranked fourth overall, earning the title of Best Boutique Hotel and the highest-ranked European hotel.

Rounding out the top five was the historic Raffles Singapore, the birthplace of the iconic Singapore Sling cocktail.

The World’s 50 Best Hotels Academy, which compiles the ranking, consists of 800
