Greece has rolled out a new upgrade to its Gov.gr Wallet, the state’s official digital wallet for public documents, introducing three new features designed to improve security, usability, and real-time information for citizens.
The most significant change concerns digital documents such as the digital driving license and digital ID. Users are now immediately notified if one of these documents is revoked by a competent authority or declared lost. When the Gov.gr Wallet app is opened, a clear message appears explaining which document has been withdrawn. Users can then attempt to re-add the document; if this is not permitted, the app provides an explanatory notice. Document revocations may occur, for example, following traffic violations or during administrative procedures.
A second improvement simplifies the process of adding documents to the wallet. Until now, users had to manually enter a one-time password (OTP) sent by SMS. With the new update, and with the user’s consent, the six-digit code is automatically filled in as soon as the message arrives, reducing errors and speeding up the process.
The third upgrade concerns the Digital Card of the Public Employment Service, Greece’s national unemployment agency. The card is now updated in real time
