Greek shipowner Alpha Gas has confirmed it has ordered a pair of LNG carrier newbuildings in South Korea.

The shipowner didn’t disclose the name of the shipbuilder in its statement on Wednesday, January 21.

The two LNG carriers are scheduled for delivery in 2029.

“We are pleased to announce that Alpha Gas has placed an order for two state‑of‑the‑art LNG carriers, which will feature the latest energy‑efficient technologies, to be built in South Korea and scheduled for delivery in 2029,” the company wrote in a release.

South Korea’s shipyard Hanwha Ocean has disclosed that it has received an order for two LNG carriers. The shipbuilder did not name on Wednesday the contracting party, simply describing them as “an Oceania region shipowner.”

The contracting period starts on January 20, 2026, and ends on June 29, 2029.
