Meadway Bulkers bolsters orderbook with fresh ultramax deal in Japan

The Greek dry bulk specialist Meadway Bulkers has expanded its orderbook with a new ultramax bulk carrier.
The Athens-based company specializing in the handy and ultramax sector has contracted Japan’s Imabari Shipbuilding Co. to construct an 64,000-dwt ultramax bulk carrier with delivery expected in the second quarter of 2027.
Three 66,200-dwt ultramaxes are being built by Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Co. in Zhousan with deliveries expected through the first quarter of 2026 for the two newbuild vessels and through the third quarter of 2026 for the third ultramax vessel.
Meanwhile, Namura Shipbuilding Co. in Japan is constructing two 40,050-dwt handysize units slated
