Fast food chain Steak ‘n Shake has launched a special Bitcoin burger to commemorate its acceptance of BTC payments.
Steak ‘n Shake said last week on X that it has launched a limited-edition "Bitcoin Steakburger" with BTC-branded buns to commemorate its fifth month of accepting Bitcoin payments.
Steak ‘n Shake started accepting Bitcoin payments on the Lightning Network in May after months of teasers. The company’s operations chief, Dan Edwards, said at the Bitcoin 2025 conference that month that accepting BTC was saving it about 50% in processing fees, while also hailing the speed of Bitcoin transactions.

"Bitcoin is a win for the customer, it’s a win for us as the merchant, and it’s a win for you in the Bitcoin community," Edwards said at the time.
Steak ‘n Shake has since attributed a reported 10.7% and 15% increase in same-store sales in Q2 and Q3, respectively, to its acceptance of Bitcoin payments. The company said its Q3 results outpaced all other fast food chains.
It helps that Steak ‘n Shake’s move to accept Bitcoin payments has received support from influential figures like Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey. Dorsey, who has advocated for the use of Bitcoin for payments, shared images on X showing that he had made a $100 purchase at Steak ‘n Shake with Bitcoin in June.

However, Steak ‘n Shake’s relationship with the Bitcoin community has not been without hurdles. As recently as last week, the company drew the community’s ire for considering the expansion of its cryptocurrency payment support to Ethereum.
"Poll suspended. Our allegiance is with Bitcoiners. You have spoken," Steak ‘n Shake said, withdrawing the poll asking whether it should also accept ETH after several Bitcoiners threatened to end their patronage.
However, 53% of respondents to the poll that received nearly 49,000 votes actually voted in favor of the company accepting ETH.
