Norwegian company orders hydrogen-fueled bulk carriers

Ørsta-based shipping company Møre Sjø has placed an order for two zero-emission hydrogen-fueled bulk carriers.

The ships will be powered by green hydrogen supplied by GreenH, and are expected to be operational by early 2027. According to Møre Sjø’s Torstein Holsvik, the decision came after a comprehensive evaluation of technologies, fuel availability, and long-term costs. “After thorough assessments of technology, costs, and future access to fuel, the choice fell on hydrogen. For us, this is the most forward-looking choice,” Holsvik stated.
