Shanghai Port orders 20,000-cubic-meter LNG bunkering vessel

On June 18, Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) and Jiangnan Shipyard, a unit of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), signed a major contract to build a 20,000-cubic-meter LNG bunkering vessel.

Designed by SDARI and constructed by Jiangnan, the vessel will incorporate top-tier LNG bunkering technologies, including full electric azimuth propulsion, advanced LNG vapor management systems, and smart ship functionalities. Powered by boil-off gas and fitted with energy-efficient systems, it is expected to cut greenhouse gas emissions by around 25% and nearly eliminate sulfur oxide (SOx) and particulate matter emissions.

Set for delivery in the first half of 2027, the vessel will enhance Shanghai’s LNG
