Crew injured in unauthorised boarding of chemical tanker in Singapore Strait

A seafarer has been reported injured in an anauthorised boarding incident of a chemical tanker in the Singapore Strait.
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has been alerted to the unauthorised boarding of a Singapore-registered chemical tanker, BASSET. The boarding occurred at about 07:00 am (SGT) in the Singapore Strait, outside Singapore Territorial Waters.
According to MPA’s announcement, the vessel is currently anchored in Singapore waters and the Singapore Police Coast Guard and Singapore Civil Defence Force have been activated to render assistance.
While medical evacuation of the injured crew member is also underway, MPA is issuing safety broadcasts for vessels to maintain a vigilant watch.
The Port Authority noted that safety of navigation along the Singapore Strait is not affected.
