AD Ports Group and Zhejiang Seaport Group team up

In a move that could reshape regional vehicle logistics, AD Ports Group has signed a preliminary strategic agreement with China’s Zhejiang Provincial Seaport Investment & Operation Group (operator of the massive Ningbo Zhoushan Port) in order to create an integrated automotive logistics ecosystem linking Asia, the Middle East, and beyond.

The agreement, signed during a ceremony marking the maiden voyage of UGR Zakher, the second LNG-powered PCTC vessel in the United Global Ro-Ro (UGR) fleet, outlines a broad plan to jointly develop roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) and automotive terminal capabilities. The goal: streamline the growing flow of vehicle exports from China to emerging markets across the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia.

”This preliminary strategic partnership with Zhejiang Provincial Seaport Investment & Operation Group marks a defining moment in our combined efforts to establish smart, connected automotive corridors across continents. With our fleet and global experience in the Ro-Ro segment complemented by UGR’s operations, we offer immediate vessel availability and operational excellence”, said Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group.

As part of the agreement, the two port giants will explore a series of enhancements to their terminal infrastructure to support higher volumes, reduce vessel turnaround times, and accommodate larger ships. The collaboration also aims to leverage UGR as the preferred Ro-Ro carrier.

”Ningbo Zhoushan Port, a key deep-water port in China, ranks first globally in cargo throughput and serves as a vital hub for world trade. The maiden voyage of the new UGR ship, UGR Zakher, at Ningbo Zhoushan Port marks a new phase in our strategic partnership with AD Ports Group”, said Mr. Tao Chengbo, Chairman of Zhejiang Provincial Seaport Investment & Operation Group Co., Ltd.
