Wilson Sons Transitions Rio Offshore Support Base

Container News
Wilson Sons Transitions Rio Offshore Support Base

Wilson Sons has begun operating entirely on renewable energy at its Rio Offshore Support Base in Guanabara Bay, using electricity sourced primarily from wind and solar. This shift is expected to cut approximately 22.7 tCO₂e of annual Scope 2 emissions tied to electricity consumption by both the base and its offshore energy clients.

To certify this transition, the base will receive International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-RECs) by year-end, confirming its use of clean energy sources.

Power is used across the facility to support yard lighting, offices, workshops, and storage areas. Vessels docking at the base already benefit from shore power, reducing reliance on diesel and supporting lower-emission operations.

Wilson Sons, a pioneer in offshore logistics, operates two private terminals in Guanabara Bay (the Rio and Niterói Bases) and continues to expand its footprint along the Brazilian coast with temporary remote bases.
