“K” LINE joins onboard fire drill

“K” LINE recently took part in a major emergency response drill at Laem Chabang Port, Thailand. The “Fire Drill Exercise on Board 2025” was held on June 24 at Berth A5 of Namyong Terminal.
The exercise took place onboard BALTIMORE HIGHWAY, a car carrier operated by “K” LINE. It simulated a fire breaking out during cargo handling, with one worker reported missing, adding a layer of complexity to the scenario.
Crew members worked alongside local emergency services, including Namyong Terminal, the Marine Department’s VTCMSO, the Port Authority of Thailand, firefighters, and EMS teams. The joint effort tested firefighting, search and rescue operations, and emergency communication.
The drill aimed to improve coordination across agencies and verify each group’s ability to respond quickly and effectively. It also gave crews a chance to rehearse real-world safety procedures in a controlled environment.
“K” LINE says it will continue to run similar drills at ports around the world. The goal is to boost safety in cargo handling and vessel operations, and to help protect the marine environment.
