Port of Rotterdam appoints new chief representative in India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh

The Port of Rotterdam Authority has appointed Amlan Bora as its Chief Representative for India and South Asia, covering India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.
This appointment, facilitated through Dhanoni Advisory LLP, reflects the Port of Rotterdam’s strategic ambition to build deeper and more resilient partnerships across the South Asian region. The objective is to enhance trade connectivity and foster efficient, sustainable supply chains linking South Asia with Western Europe via the Port of Rotterdam.
This move aligns with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ broader goal of strengthening bilateral and regional ties, particularly with India, a rapidly growing player in the global logistics and energy sectors.
In his new role, Mr. Bora will support the Port of Rotterdam Authority and its stakeholders in the Netherlands, India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.
His focus will be on enabling equitable supply chains for both general cargo and bulk commodities, as well as facilitating new energy transitions, including the development of hydrogen carrier routes.
He will also contribute to identifying business opportunities related to critical raw materials, a sector where India is becoming increasingly influential due to its forward-looking policies and strategic investments.
Based out of Dhanoni Advisory’s office in Ahmedabad, Gujarat,a key maritime state with a longstanding relationship with the Port of Rotterdam, Bora is strategically positioned to foster collaboration.
Gujarat also hosts numerous Dutch investments across various sectors, making it a vital gateway for Indo-Dutch economic engagement.
Amlan Bora brings a wealth of global experience in supply chain and international trade, having held senior roles in multinationals such as Siemens, Philips, and Diageo. Prior to this role, he served as the Chief Representative and Trade & Investment Commissioner at the Netherlands Business Support Offices in India, a network of trade offices under the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs.
Deeply connected to India, Mr. Bora also advises several nonprofit organizations both in India and abroad.
Outside his professional responsibilities, he is an advocate for education and social development, often sharing his insights as a guest lecturer at prominent universities in India and internationally.
