Mitsui E&S secures record crane order in Vietnam

Mitsui E&S has won a major contract from Petro Vietnam Phuoc An Port Investment & Operation JSC (PAP) for 22 container cranes. The order includes 11 ship-to-shore gantry cranes and 11 electric rubber-tyred gantry cranes. It marks the largest crane procurement deal in Vietnam’s history.
PAP is building Phuoc An Port in Dong Nai Province. The terminal will become one of the country’s biggest logistics hubs. The first MSC container vessel is set to call at the port in February 2025.
PAP is working with Saigon Newport Corporation to boost southern Vietnam’s trade connections. The new cranes will help meet rising cargo demand and improve handling capacity.
Mitsui E&S already has 13 cranes operating at Phuoc An. With this order, total deliveries to PAP will reach 56 cranes. That includes a previous order from July 2024 for 5 gantry cranes and 16 transtainers.
Over the last 10 years, Mitsui E&S has delivered more than 170 container cranes across Vietnam. It holds the largest market share in the country.
The company plans to keep expanding its port logistics business across Southeast Asia and the global market. It sees strong demand for cranes in the region and aims to support growth through modern, efficient port infrastructure.
