PIL expands LNG fleet with delivery of Kota Orkid

Pacific International Lines (PIL) has taken delivery of Kota Orkid, its eighth LNG-powered vessel, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and sustainability.

Alongside the four “O” Class vessels delivered this year, PIL has also added four 14,000 TEU LNG dual-fuel ships since 2024. The company has another 12 LNG dual-fuel vessels on order, five 13,000 TEU and seven 9,000 TEU ships, set for delivery over the next few years.

Kota Orkid demonstrates how PIL’s fleet is becoming cleaner, smarter, and more efficient,” said Lars Kastrup, CEO of PIL. “By embracing greener fuels and advanced digital systems, we’re ensuring PIL stays sustainable, resilient, and ready for the future of global trade.”

Each LNG-powered vessel features next-generation engines that cut methane emissions and can operate on bio-methane fuels. Their hydrodynamic hulls and advanced anti-fouling coatings further enhance fuel efficiency.
