WinGD partners with Qatar Shipyard for Middle East Engine Service

Swiss marine power company WinGD has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Qatar Shipyard Technology Solutions to expand engine aftercare and technical services in the Middle East. The agreement, reached during Nor-Shipping in June, strengthens delivery of WinGD’s Global Service by WinGD, covering maintenance, repair, overhaul, and retrofitting.

The partnership combines Qatar Shipyard Technology Solutions’ strategic location and infrastructure with WinGD’s engine expertise. It aims to deliver fast, high-quality engine support to regional ship operators throughout a vessel’s lifecycle.

“Shipowners seek trusted partners who support engines at every stage,” said Rudolf Holtbecker, Director of Global Service at WinGD. “This MoU establishes a strong Middle East footprint and ensures vessels remain efficient, compliant, and profitable.”

Global Service by WinGD builds on over 125 years of two-stroke engine design. It pairs WinGD’s energy systems expertise with a global network for timely, on-budget service. The program will support more than 100 LNG carriers operating on Qatar projects from 2026.

“This agreement is about trusted partnership,” Holtbecker added. “Our Middle East customers now have access to WinGD engineering exactly where they need it.”

The service will be available to all operators using WinGD-designed engines, setting a new standard for global engine aftercare.
