SeaLead shuts down MEDUS service
SeaLead has quietly discontinued its MEDUS service linking the Mediterranean with the U.S. East Coast, according to Alphaliner. The service, launched in March this year, marked the carrier’s first and only entry into the transatlantic trade.
The MEDUS loop operated on a roughly fortnightly basis, calling Mersin – Istanbul (Ambarli) – Gebze – Aliaga – Casablanca – New York – Norfolk – Mersin. Its withdrawal signals SeaLead’s exit from the trade after just months of operation.
No formal announcement has been made by the carrier, and the reasons for the closure have not been publicly disclosed.
