Kalmar to deliver lithium-ion forklifts to ArcelorMittal
Kalmar has signed a new agreement with ArcelorMittal to supply a fleet of 12 medium forklift trucks, including two units equipped with its second-generation lithium-ion battery technology.
The order was recorded in Kalmar’s third-quarter 2025 results, with delivery scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2026.
The forklifts will operate in ArcelorMittal’s steelmaking facilities, supporting safer and more efficient material handling. The new-generation lithium-ion batteries offer higher energy capacity, improved thermal stability and more consistent performance, helping to cut emissions and increase reliability.
Thoralf Winkel, CEO of ArcelorMittal Hamburg, said the technology supports the company’s goals to improve efficiency and reduce its carbon footprint. Kalmar added that the latest battery solution marks a major step toward cleaner, more energy-efficient industrial operations.
