CMA CGM adds methanol-powered containership to fleet

CMA CGM has officially welcomed the CMA CGM THORIUM to its fleet. The new-generation containership runs on dual-fuel methanol power.

The vessel supports the shipping line’s energy transition strategy. CMA CGM named the ship in Mokpo, South Korea.

The CMA CGM THORIUM now enters the M2X service. The deployment strengthens the company’s presence in the Asia-Pacific region.

The addition marks another step in CMA CGM’s shift toward alternative fuels. Methanol-powered vessels represent a key component of the industry’s decarbonization efforts.
