Wärtsilä and Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy explore collaboration to meet marine decarbonisation and sustainability goals

Wärtsilä and Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy (ADMA) have signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support sustainable operations in the maritime industry. The agreement includes options for extension or amendment.

The partnership will focus on decarbonisation, digitalisation, smart port solutions, and maritime training. The Maritime Sustainability Research Centre Abu Dhabi (MSRCAD) will provide advisory support and assist with joint projects. Collaboration may extend to government-to-government initiatives across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

Dr. Yasser Al Wahedi, President of ADMA, said the project leverages Wärtsilä’s expertise to deliver environmental benefits, improve training, and enhance operational efficiency in the UAE maritime sector.

John Sydney, Vice President of Sales at Wärtsilä Marine, added the partnership reinforces Wärtsilä’s commitment to decarbonisation. The company will provide advisory services, engage early in customer projects, and promote energy-efficient practices across shipping.
