Ocean Network Express introduces surcharge cleanup project

Ocean Network Express (ONE) has announced a comprehensive overhaul of its surcharge framework through the launch of a Surcharge Cleanup Project aimed at improving transparency and operational efficiency.

The initiative is designed to create a more streamlined and transparent surcharge structure by reducing the total number of surcharge codes and enhancing clarity across its pricing architecture. According to the company, simplicity is the guiding principle behind the project, with a focus on making pricing more predictable and easier to understand for customers.

Through the rationalization and standardization of existing surcharges, ONE seeks to eliminate overlapping or unclear fee categories and replace them with a more consistent, formula-based system.

The company stated that the project is expected to enhance customer experience by offering clearer and more predictable pricing, while also optimizing internal processes to improve efficiency.

In addition, the revised framework aims to ensure full compliance with international regulatory requirements, including those set by China’s Ministry of Transport (MOT) and the US Federal Maritime Commission (FMC).

To support the transition, ONE has prepared detailed documentation outlining the original surcharge codes, the newly consolidated codes and definitions for each updated category. Customers are encouraged to review the document to better understand the changes and assess any potential impact on their shipments.
