PSA Antwerp launches express barge service to Willebroek
Willebroek – PSAA Express service

PSA Antwerp, Danser Group, and Hutchison Ports Europe Intermodal have launched a new barge service connecting Antwerp and Willebroek. The service will operate under the name ‘Willebroek – PSAA Express’.

The weekly express service links PSA’s Noordzee Terminal in Antwerp with the Willebroek inland terminal. Hutchison Ports Belgium manages the Willebroek facility.

The parties aim to increase predictability and quality of inland waterway connections. The service offers consistent transit times, greater supply chain transparency, and higher delivery reliability.

Fixed time slots allow precise coordination of operations. The arrangement provides dedicated capacity for consistent service delivery.

Edward Tah, Managing Director of PSA Belgium, said the service expands PSA Antwerp’s port adjacencies. “By working with fixed time frames and dedicated capacity, we offer predictability and efficiency in barge handling,” he stated.

Martine Hiel, Managing Director of Hutchison Ports Belgium, said the service fits the company’s strategy of developing reliable intermodal connections. The service guarantees consistency regardless of road traffic congestion or port congestion.

The collaboration expands Danser Group and HPEI’s intermodal network. The focus remains on planning, continuity, and operational efficiency.

The three companies position the service as a sustainable alternative to road transport. The inland waterway connection provides efficient hinterland access from the Port of Antwerp.
