ONE introduces Inland Emergency Fuel Surcharge amid Middle East crisis

Ocean Network Express (ONE) will implement an Inland Haulage Fee (IHD inbound / IHL outbound) as an emergency fuel surcharge. This applies to all shipments moving to or from Canada and the United States inland. Guam, Saipan, Puerto Rico, and American Samoa are excluded.

The surcharge responds to the ongoing fuel disruptions caused by the Strait of Hormuz closure and global supply challenges. ONE will review and adjust the fee monthly based on diesel price trends.

The previous Emergency Fuel Surcharge (EFS) for IPI movements, announced on March 10th, will be removed and replaced with IHD/IHL for inland transport. Ocean transportation will continue to be assessed under EFS, while inland movements are now subject to IHD/IHL.

Effective Date: April 18, 2026
Scope: All inland shipments to/from Canada and the US¹
Charges: USD per container (see tariff appendix).

ONE remains committed to reliable and safe inland transportation. Customers with questions about specific shipments should contact their local ONE representative.
