MSC removes Tauranga from Wallaby service rotation

MSC has adjusted the rotation of its Wallaby service, which connects the Far East with Australia and New Zealand. According to reports from Alphaliner, the New Zealand port of Tauranga has been removed from the service schedule.

Revised port sequence The updated rotation focuses on maintaining coverage across key hubs in China, Australia, and New Zealand. The new sequence is as follows:

• China: Shanghai – Ningbo

• Australia: Sydney – Melbourne

• New Zealand: Auckland – Bluff – Port Chalmers – Lyttelton – Napier – Wellington

• Australia (Return): Melbourne – Brisbane

• China (Return): Hong Kong – Shenzhen (Yantian) – Xiamen – Shanghai

Operational impact By removing the Tauranga call, the Wallaby service streamlines its New Zealand coverage. Shippers formerly utilizing Tauranga will need to coordinate through alternative ports in the revised rotation, such as Auckland or Napier, to maintain their supply chain links between Northeast Asia and Oceania.
