MSC transfers ownership to next generation of Aponte family

Mediterranean Shipping Company has announced the transfer of ownership from its founder, Captain Gianluigi Aponte, to his children, Diego Aponte and Alexa Aponte.

The transition took place during the last quarter of 2025 and marks a key milestone in the history of the Geneva-based shipping group, ensuring continuity under the next generation of family leadership.

Diego Aponte, currently serving as Group President, and Alexa Aponte, Group Chief Financial Officer, have both played significant roles in the company’s development in recent years. The ownership transfer is expected to support the long-term stability and growth of the MSC Group.

Following the transition, MSC confirmed it will remain focused on its core ocean freight business, with Gianluigi Aponte continuing in his role as Executive Chairman.
