ABS and HD Hyundai advance maritime and offshore technologies
ABS and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate across a broad range of initiatives supporting sustainability, digital innovation and operational resilience in the maritime and offshore sectors.
The agreement places particular emphasis on accelerating the development of next-generation energy solutions as decarbonisation and digital transformation reshape the global ocean energy landscape.
The scope of cooperation covers several strategic focus areas including offshore wind development, offshore substations, small modular reactors, offshore spaceport infrastructure and carbon capture and storage value chain solutions, alongside the enabling digital technologies that support sustainable and efficient operations.
The two organisations will explore practical opportunities to address decarbonisation challenges, digital transformation requirements and evolving operational demands across the global offshore energy sector.
Matthew Tremblay, ABS Senior Vice President for Global Offshore, described the agreement as reflecting a shared focus on delivering forward-looking solutions by combining ABS’s marine and offshore experience with HHI’s expertise in ocean energy and offshore engineering.
Kwangsik Won, Senior Executive Vice President of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, highlighted the growing importance of cross-sector collaboration as low-carbon offshore energy solutions and digital integration become central to long-term competitiveness, safety and efficiency across the industry.
