Singapore-headquartered owner and operator of crude and product tankers AET is set to enrich its fleet with its first-ever hybrid-electric, ethanol-ready tanker, set to be built in China.

AET placed the order for its first hybrid-electric dynamic positioning shuttle tanker (DPST) with Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corp., with the vessel to be equipped with an electric energy storage (EES) system and designed to be dual-fuel ethanol-ready.
The 154,000-deadweight-ton Suezmax DPST is expected to be delivered in 2028.
The move is said to be part of the company’s multi-fuel fleet growth program.
