James Fisher invests in firm behind 'world's only autonomous underwater and surface vehicle'
James Fisher and Sons is investing in a U.S.-based autonomous marine technology company to support the development and deployment of what is said to be the world’s first and only wind and solar-powered autonomous underwater and surface vehicle (AUSV).

James Fisher announced it was investing a strategic minority stake in the Series D funding round of Ocean Aero, which designs, manufactures, and operates the next-generation, low-emission Triton AUSV.
According to the company, the technology aligns closely with James Fisher’s dual-use strategic approach across offshore energy and defense verticals.
Triton is 4.5 meters long and has a maximum submergence depth of 100 meters. With 13.2 kWh battery power, it can endure on the surface for over 30 days and subsea for over five days on minimum power.
