Eltronic FuelTech, a global engineering company, working toward a zero-emission maritime industry, has marked a significant achievement in maritime engine technology with the successful delivery of the world’s first 2.5-inch Fuel Valve Technology (FVT) designed specifically for the CPGC-MAN12G95ME-C10.5-LGIM engine. This event, which was celebrated with a ceremony at the CSSC-MES DIESEL CO., LTD office in Shanghai, represents a major step forward in improving fuel efficiency and advancing the development of methanol dual-fuel engines.

What is FVT-MeOH?

The 2.5-inch FVT-MeOH is a Fuel Valve Technology specifically designed to regulate the fuel flow of methanol, an alternative marine fuel, in dual-fuel engines. It plays a crucial role in ensuring the engine operates efficiently while using methanol as one of the fuels.

Supporting the Development of Methanol Dual-Fuel Engines

The newly delivered 2.5-inch FVT-MeOH is designed to meet the specific needs of the CPGC-MAN12G95ME-C10.5-LGIM engine, the largest methanol dual-fuel (DF) main engine constructed in China. This engine is poised to play a pivotal role in enhancing the efficiency and environmental sustainability of shipping operations, contributing to the industry’s push towards greener technologies.

As part of this project, 12 container vessels, each with a capacity of 24,000 TEU, are being built for Orient Overseas Container Line Limited (OOCL), which is part of COSCO Shipping Group, China’s largest shipping company. These vessels are currently under construction at two shipyards: Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. and Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. The project reflects the global shipping industry’s increasing focus on alternative fuels and reducing emissions.

Official Ceremony to Mark and Celebrate the Milestone

In January, Eltronic FuelTech commemorated this achievement with an official ceremony at the CSSC-MES DIESEL CO., LTD office in Shanghai. The ceremony was attended by key representatives from Eltronic FuelTech, CSTC Shanghai, and CSSC-MES DIESEL CO., LTD, along with distinguished industry figures including:

  • Mr. Jiang Jun, Chairman
  • Mr. Li Yi Min, Vice President
  • Mr. Xu Zhao Gang, Assistant President
  • Mr. Zhang Jun Ming, Director of Purchasing
  • Mr. Yang Sun Jie, Senior Manager of Purchasing

The presence of these industry leaders highlighted the importance of collaboration in achieving such a milestone. During the event, the delivery document was signed, and symbolic gifts were exchanged between Eltronic FuelTech and CSSC-MES DIESEL CO., LTD, celebrating the partnership that made this achievement possible.

Remarks by Eltronic FuelTech’s Global Sales Director

Nicolai Wiese, Global Sales Director at Eltronic FuelTech, spoke at the ceremony, emphasizing the importance of innovation and partnership in achieving sustainability and efficiency in the maritime sector. “This achievement is not only a testament to our team’s hard work and innovation but also to the strength of our partnership with our customers and partners. We are honored to contribute to this project and look forward to continuing our collaboration to drive sustainability and efficiency in the maritime sector,” Wiese stated.
