Kuehne+Nagel, Acer Europe renew decarbonization partnership

Kuehne+Nagel has renewed its strategic partnership with Acer Europe to further decarbonize sea freight through the use of biofuel.

In its third year, the collaboration has already achieved a reduction of 475 tons in emissions, reflecting both companies’ strong commitment to environmental sustainability.

“We are proud to work with Kuehne+Nagel, a reliable and trustworthy partner, in our goal to reduce carbon emissions from our logistics operations. A few years ago, we started several joint carbon-reduction initiatives, and the results are improving year over year,” stated Riccardo Bernasconi, Acer EMEA Supply Chain Director.

As part of this initiative, Kuehne+Nagel supports Acer’s emissions reduction efforts with its certified Book and Claim solution for maritime biofuel, while also offering advanced, data-driven insights from sea explorers and order-level emissions reporting.

Moreover, Acer’s Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) goals include a 35% reduction in absolute Scope 3 emissions by 2030 (compared to 2020), emphasizing the vital role of their transport partner in reaching these targets.

“Acer’s inclusive approach to sustainability looks far ahead and focuses on shared responsibility. We are proud to contribute to their efforts and are looking forward to introducing new carbon-reducing initiatives this year focused on distribution processes,” commented Ave Crotti, Sustainability Manager in Italy and Iberia at Kuehne+Nagel.
