G7 pushes for crackdown on shadow fleet with ‘satellite-based vessel tracking’
The G7 group of leading industrialised countries have called for a comprehensive record of shadow fleet movements and ship-to-ship (STS) oil transfer activities to tackle illegal business.
The foreign ministers of the US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the European Union called for the expansion of “satellite-based vessel tracking” as they warned of a high risk of an accident involving unregulated and inadequately insured vessels.
