‘There could be carnage’: Momentum rising on Asia-Europe trade as US shippers redirect cargoes
Container shipping capacity on trades from the Far East to northern Europe is set to hit an all-time high this week.
Capacity deployed on the trade will beat the record set during Covid-19 disruption in November 2021, when 336,800 teu of capacity was offered, according to Xeneta estimates.
That record is expected to be broken over the week starting on 14 April, although the total will not be known until ships have left the Far East.
