Suezmaxes set for boost as China resumes crude oil imports from Kazakhstan
Suezmax rates will likely get a boost as China resumes imports of CPC blend crude oil from Kazakhstan after a nine-month hiatus, as its Tengiz field has completed maintenance.
According to oil analytics firm Kpler’s tracking data, April arrivals for Kazakhstan’s sweet crude to China are expected to hit 240,000 barrels per day.
Suezmaxes usually sail through the Black Sea, the Mediterranean, the Suez Canal, the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean and the South China Sea before reaching North Asian ports, prior to the Israel-Hamas conflict.
